Our Service and Our Standards

“The best way to find yourself is to lose yourself in the service of others.” (Mahatma Gandhi)

We are committed to providing the highest quality medical care. We understand that starting with a new doctor can be a stressful transition and that you may have questions. Please search below for answers to many commonly asked questions, as well as other resources that you may find helpful.

What We Do

Membership Questions

When insurers combine inexpensive primary care with higher cost medical care it raises the cost of routine care for everyone and creates a barrier to access. We have separated primary care from those high cost services to create our membership-based primary care package which gives you back affordable routine services. By combining all of the routine and necessary services into a low monthly fee, our members enjoy affordable patient-centered care with true price transparency.

Direct primary care is different than concierge care: it offers low monthly fees, does not participate in any payer programs and applies the patient's membership fees to a broader range of services. Expect same or next day appointments for urgent conditions; extended visits; direct coordination of care; messages returned and prescriptions filled in a timely manner; office staff that knows you; and care provided in a clean and comfortable environment. Our patients are treated as we would expect our family to be treated!

What if I need to go to the hospital?
This program does not cover hospital care. This is why we suggest you look into a high deductible health plan (HDHP) for catastrophic coverage. Should you require admission to the hospital, we will be glad to coordinate that for you.

What if I need a specialist?
Our services cover a wide spectrum of problems, but occasionally you may require specialty care. If a higher level of care is necessary, we can help coordinate it for you.

What if I need medications?
We can provide most of your medications at wholesale cost +10%, which is often cheaper than GoodRx or even insurance copays! This can save you a significant amount of money every month, adding even more value to your Dragonfly membership. We are always looking to provide reasonable low-cost alternatives for the medications that you need.

*Controlled Substance Policy
We care about you. We use our discretion when deciding whether or not prescribing controlled medications is appropriate. Please do not expect us to refill controlled substances without prior knowledge of your situation and thorough review of your medical history.

At Dragonfly, 100% of your healthcare decisions are determined by you and your physician, NOT an insurance company or other outside influence.

*Unlimited in-person or telehealth visits with no co-pays.
*Remote or virtual access to your provider via email, text or secure chat, with additional access to our “crisis line” for non-life threatening emergencies.
*Physical exams and consultations at no additional cost. Pap smears and biopsy evaluations provided at cost.
*Laboratory testing provided at cost.
*Most in office procedures (ECG, laceration repair, skin lesion removal etc) are provided at no additional cost.
*Most medications are available at wholesale costs +10%.

Automatic Payments
To assure that there is no interruption in your care and to avoid unnecessary fees, we offer several convenient ways to set up automatic monthly payments, including ACH draft and debit / credit card. Cash is accepted for payments if made in 3-month increments. We also offer a discount for yearly paid-in-full accounts.

There is an initial enrollment fee for each member. This fee is non-refundable and will again be necessary if membership lapses for any reason. We will always discuss any potential additional fees before you agree to any services. If any additional fees are incurred, they will be charged separately.

What if I decide to cancel?
At Dragonfly, you can cancel your membership at any time. However, if you do decide to cancel your membership within the first three months, we will charge fair market price for the services rendered during that period. Should you later wish to return to Dragonfly, a new enrollment fee would apply.

Tax and Insurance Questions

If you’re paying for insurance, there can be enormous out of pocket expenses:

Premiums: are paid monthly either out of pocket or deducted from your paycheck, and can average between $400 - $1200 + per month depending on your plan.

Copays: for office visits, medications, labs, emergency and hospital care are extra and can add up quickly.

Deductibles must be met to be eligible for coverage and are often a huge out of pocket expense; fees as high as $7000 + per year are common

Other hidden costs can often show up, driving costs up even further.

Healthcare expenses can lead to avoidance of doctor visits, a practice that can lead to serious (and often avoidable) health concerns down the road. With Direct Primary Care (DPC), you pay one flat monthly fee—around $100—and this covers the majority of your healthcare needs. No copays, no deductibles, no surprise bills, and unlimited visits, so you’ll never hesitate to see us when you need to. It is our goal to provide you with the highest quality care at a fraction of the cost.

Insurance coverage can be confusing, but we can help! We are happy to analyze your current insurance situation to help find the right combination of coverage vs. cost, in order to keep you covered in case of emergency. Pairing DPC with a high-deductible catastrophe plan can save you as much as 20-30% or more each year.

No, we are not insurance. We are a clinic that contracts directly with our patients to provide primary care services. Our plan is membership-based with a low monthly fee, much like a gym membership.

Just as you would not use your car insurance to pay for regular maintenance, there is no need to use your health insurance to cover minor or routine services such as treatment for a cough / cold, or management of chronic conditions like diabetes or high blood pressure. We do recommend catastrophe insurance coverage in case of medical emergencies or if hospitalization is required. Some people may also choose to continue insurance coverage to help cover specialist care or newer, more expensive medications.

No. There are no pre-existing condition exclusions and there are no increases in the membership fee based on prior health history. In fact, those with chronic medical conditions are perfect for our service.

Medicare
Yes. Sometimes our prices are less expensive than costs with Medicare. While we do not bill Medicare or insurance providers for services, we're happy to accept Medicare patients.

Medicaid
No. Colorado law prohibits DPC providers from contracting with Medicaid patients, and does not allow Medicaid patients to pay out-of-pocket for DPC services. So, unfortunely, Mediaid cannot be used along with DPC services.

Direct Primary Care (DPC) is growing fast in Colorado! It can benefit employers by offering a cost-effective, employee-focused healthcare option. How does it work? Employers pay a flat monthly fee per employee (typically $50-$150) for unlimited access to primary care services, such as check-ups, preventive care, and chronic disease management, without relying on traditional insurance.

Benefits for Employers

Cost Savings: DPC reduces healthcare costs by minimizing reliance on expensive insurance plans and lowering emergency room visits through proactive care.
Improved Employee Health: Unlimited access to primary care encourages early intervention and better management of chronic conditions, reducing absenteeism.
Enhanced Employee Satisfaction: Offering DPC as a benefit can attract and retain talent, as employees value accessible, personalized healthcare.
Simplified Administration: DPC eliminates complex insurance claims, streamlining benefits management for employers.
Injuries: We can treat minor work related health problems without any difficulty, often saving a claim on your worker's compensation policy.

In Colorado, employers can pair DPC with high-deductible plans to cover catastrophic care, optimizing costs. For example, a 2023 study showed DPC can reduce overall healthcare spending by up to 20% for employers while improving employee health outcomes.
